Two decades of the political and military dimension of Poland's membership in the structures of the North Atlantic Alliance
The Institute of International Studies at the University of Wroclaw and the National Security Students Association would like to invite to attend the international conference Two decades of the political and military dimension of Poland's membership in the structures of the North Atlantic Alliance that is due to take place in Wrocław on May 24, 2019.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to NATO. This event began major changes in our national security as well as influenced on long-term processes, primarily in the dimension of Polish defence policy. The membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation gave Poland a guarantee of security and strengthened the importance of Poland in the international arena.
Wishing to emphasize this important event, the authorities and employees of the Institute of International Studies of the University of Wroclaw are kindly to invite interested persons to participate in the international conference - Two decades of the political and military dimension of Poland's membership in the structures of the North Atlantic Alliance, which will be held on May 24, 2019 at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wroclaw.
The main objective of the conference will be an exchange of views expressed by representatives of domestic and foreign research centers and other institutions dealing with issues of international, national and military security. It will also enable a substantive discussion on the most relevant and current topics related to areas of Poland's functioning in the North Atlantic Alliance and identification of future-oriented solutions for NATO. This conference will contribute to a better understanding NATO’s current agenda by exploring such aspects as:
- defence and security (including defence investment and capabilities);
- projecting stability/NATO Partnerships;
- defence, deterrence and dialogue (with focus on NATO-Russia relations);
- transatlantic security cooperation & new security challenges.
Thematic areas of the conference:
- changes in the state and security determinants in the global dimension;
- the importance of NATO in the contemporary architecture of international security;
- the political and military importance of Poland's membership in NATO;
- participation of the Polish Armed Forces in NATO's crisis response operations;
- structural, organizational and technological revaluations connected with the functioning of the Polish Armed Forces in NATO;
- the importance and role of NATO's military presence on the eastern flank;
- new tasks for NATO in the perspective of 2020-2030.
