On November 9 and 13, 2023, the Institute of International Studies and Security hosted Professor Jan Nederveen Pieterse, a professor of sociology and global studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor Pieterse, who has authored numerous publications in the fields of globalization, global political economy, and development studies, delivered two lectures. The first lecture was entitled "Multipolar Globalization? Iraq, Afghanistan plus 20", and the second was "Great Powers and Civilizations". These events were part of a collaboration within the European Master in Global Studies consortium, which includes the University of Wrocław. The lectures, which included a significant portion of discussion with the audience, attracted a large academic community.
